The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to help lead the development of Bank of America’s Digital Asset Transformation capability within the International and Global Enterprise Strategy & Platform groups.

Digital assets are reshaping financial markets, payments, custody, settlement, collateral and client solutions. As the ecosystem develops beyond cryptocurrency into broader financial market infrastructure, the firm is strengthening its capability to identify and prioritise commercial opportunities, respond to regulatory developments and deliver scalable business outcomes.

We are seeking a commercially minded Digital Asset Transformation Managing Director to shape the firm’s digital asset agenda and lead strategic initiatives within a global regulated banking environment. The role will identify and prioritise opportunities across tokenisation, digital securities, stablecoins, digital collateral, custody, settlement and market infrastructure, translating them into clear investment recommendations, business cases, governance frameworks, operating models and implementation strategies.

This is a senior leadership role extending beyond traditional programme management. The successful candidate will bring deep digital asset expertise, strong commercial and strategic judgement, a practical understanding of distributed ledger technology and the ability to influence investment and execution decisions across a complex global organisation. The role also offers opportunities to apply this expertise across broader enterprise-wide and international initiatives.

Acting as a trusted adviser to senior business leadership, the Managing Director will set strategic direction and lead initiatives from opportunity assessment through governance, approval and help coordinate enterprise execution. They will build alignment across business, product, technology, operations, legal, compliance, risk, finance and regulatory affairs to determine where the firm should invest, establish scalable approaches and deliver measurable business outcomes.

The role would suit a senior strategy, COO, regulatory change, product structuring or transformation leader with significant digital asset experience and a strong track record of shaping enterprise strategy, influencing executive decisions and turning complex or emerging opportunities into practical, commercially sound solutions.

The Team

The Digital Asset Transformation team sits within the International and Global Enterprise Strategy & Platform groups and leads high-priority digital asset initiatives across the firm.

The team operates at the intersection of:

  • Digital asset strategy and commercial opportunity assessment
  • Regulatory engagement and market development
  • Product, platform and capability structuring
  • Governance and implementation

Initial priorities span institutional digital assets and emerging financial market infrastructure. The team’s remit will continue to evolve in line with market developments and the firm’s strategic priorities.

The team connects strategy, commercial opportunity, regulatory requirements and enterprise execution to support informed investment decisions and scalable delivery. The team brings together stakeholders across the organisation to deliver practical, scalable and commercially grounded outcomes within a regulated banking environment.

The Managing Director will provide senior leadership across this developing agenda and establish the team’s mandate, operating model and strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

As Managing Director, Digital Asset Transformation, responsibilities may include:

  • Set the strategic direction for the firm’s digital asset transformation agenda and lead priority initiatives from opportunity assessment through approval, implementation and transition to business ownership.
  • Advise senior leadership on digital asset strategy, commercial opportunities, investment priorities, regulatory developments and execution approach.
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritise opportunities across tokenisation, digital securities, stablecoins, digital collateral, custody, settlement and emerging market infrastructure.
  • Lead the development of investment recommendations, strategic business cases, operating model proposals and implementation strategies for executive decision-making.
  • Partner with senior business leaders to define client value, commercial rationale, strategic fit, delivery priorities and success measures.
  • Build executive alignment and drive decisions across businesses, regions, product, technology, operations and corporate functions.
  • Drive regulatory, governance and control engagement, ensuring initiatives are appropriately challenged, documented and aligned with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
  • Oversee enterprise delivery, including key milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, investment decisions and transition into sustainable business ownership.
  • Shape scalable governance and operating models covering decision rights, processes, controls, accountabilities, escalation routes and implementation readiness.
  • Represent the digital asset transformation agenda in senior internal forums and, where appropriate, external regulatory, industry and strategic partner discussions.
  • Connect regional and global initiatives to establish consistency, identify cross-business opportunities and manage duplication, dependencies or competing priorities.
  • Build and lead the Digital Asset Transformation capability, directing multidisciplinary teams and developing the structure, talent and delivery approach required as the agenda evolves.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will bring deep digital asset expertise, strong commercial judgement and a proven ability to shape strategy and lead complex enterprise transformation within a regulated financial services environment.

Key experience and capabilities include:

  • Extensive financial services experience gained within strategy, business management, a COO, regulatory change, transformation, product structuring, digital assets or enterprise programme leadership.
  • Demonstrable experience shaping and leading initiatives across digital assets, tokenisation, digital securities, distributed ledger technology, digital custody or related financial market infrastructure.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to evaluate opportunities, prioritise investment and connect strategy to measurable business outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of regulated banking environments, including governance, risk, controls, operating models and regulatory expectations.
  • A proven track record of leading complex strategic, commercial or regulatory initiatives from concept through executive approval and enterprise implementation.
  • Experience advising and influencing executive stakeholders, control functions and, where relevant, external regulatory or industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret market, regulatory and technology developments and translate them into strategic choices, investment recommendations and executable plans.
  • Experience shaping target operating models, governance frameworks, control environments and scalable implementation approaches.
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics, provide constructive challenge and secure decisions across stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and developing capabilities in ambiguous, evolving and high-profile areas.

  • Experience with product approvals, new business initiatives, legal entities, booking models, platforms or other governance processes.
  • Experience preparing recommendations for executive committees, boards, regulators or senior governance forums.
  • Experience engaging external partners, fintechs, custodians, exchanges, infrastructure providers, market utilities or industry bodies.
  • Experience building or scaling a new capability, function, programme office or strategic initiative from an early stage.
  • Strong PowerPoint, Word and Excel capability, with the ability to produce concise, high-impact analysis and materials for executive audiences.
