Job Summary:
The successful applicant will have a role within Finance leading the technical lease and capital functions. Primary responsibilities will include communicating with Real Estate, Property and Development, Facilities, Legal, and other departments internally to gain insight into the Company’s ongoing capital projects (including the construction of new clubs and gas stations) and the ongoing maintenance of those associated assets. The applicant should possess the ability and confidence to work well with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure information is shared in a timely, accurate, and complete fashion. This includes gathering information from the aforementioned teams, as well as sharing updated information back with them.
Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Real Estate and Development teams to gather necessary information about the progress of our properties (such as construction status, fair market value estimates, timing of landlord reimbursements, etc.)
- Own the preparation of ASC 842 transaction files for lease commencements, modifications, sale- leasebacks (including failed sale-leasebacks), and involvement in the research and documentation process for technical questions that may arise
- Maintain monthly processes in Capital Control, including but not limited to:
- Processing transactions that are executed by the Real Estate function (such as deposits, land purchases, landlord reimbursements received, etc.)
- Preparation of monthly reporting for Facilities and Utilities teams for their review of results
- Settling assets from assets under construction and placing them into service
- Reviewing monthly transactions processed by the Company for potential reclassification between capital and expense accounts
- Oversight of the Shared Service resources in Capital Control, acting as the main point of contact for questions and guidance
- Lead the month end close for both Leasing and Capital Control, including journal entries, reconciliations, critical spreadsheets, etc.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal and external audit requests related to technical Leasing and Capital Control
- Identify areas for process improvement and design and implement solutions, including through the use of AI
- Perform other duties or projects as necessary in the management of files related to technical Leasing and Capital Control
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in Technical Leasing (exposure to ASC 842) and/or Capital Control.
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other business discipline required
- Must be comfortable to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities (e.g., time management and efficiency)
- Strong analytical skills (e.g., identify and research issues)
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.
- Proficient in MS Office
This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $86,000.00 - $109,500.00
