This role is eligible for our FLEX persona, requiring candidates to be in our Boston office every Tuesday and Wednesday.

The new People Strategy, Performance, and Experience team is on a mission to elevate leader, team, and organizational performance for a sustainable future at BCBSMA. We are seeking a strong People Analytics & Insights
Consultant to be a critical engine for this mission.

The People Analytics and Insights Consultant is a deep subject matter expert who transforms complex workforce data into the strategic insights that guide our People function. Working under the mentorship of senior team members, this role is a data-driven strategist and storyteller. The Analytics and Insights Consultant will transform our rich and complex workforce data into the compelling narratives and predictive insights that guide our most critical talent decisions. This is a unique opportunity to move beyond reporting and become a trusted advisor, using your expertise in analytics, sustainable design, and AI to directly influence executive strategy and shape the future of our workforce.

A key focus of this role will be on designing for sustainability- creating scalable, automated AI, and self-service analytics solutions that provide lasting value and elevate our insights and enable our teams to work more strategically and efficiently.

Your Day to Day:

Strategic Analytics Consulting:

  • Serve as a true consultant to the business and People leadership, helping to not just answer questions, but identify what the right ones are to ask.
  • Proactively diagnose organizational health, model future talent risks, and identify the key opportunities that will drive engagement, performance, and retention.

Sustainable Solution Design:

  • Partner across the people team and business to architect, design, build, and maintain scalable, enterprise-level people/talent dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Translate complex analytics into visually compelling, executive-ready tools that empower leaders to instantly see, diagnose, and act on the most critical drivers of talent, experience, and performance.
  • Design for sustainability with automation and self-service tools (e.g., in Tableau, Power BI, Bluefield, Workday) that empower leaders and partners with on-demand insights and eliminate ad-hoc repetitive requests.

AI Enablement & Innovation:

  • Explore, pilot, and implement AI and machine learning applications to generate predictive insights and unlock new capabilities from forecasting attrition to identifying the drivers of top performance, fundamentally enhancing the efficiency and strategic impact of our team.

Program Measurement & Strategy Connection:

  • Provide critical data and insights to inform the design, evolution, and measurement of key talent programs, including performance management, goal setting, and career development, including reporting on our divisional goals.
  • Translate analytics into strategic action, ensuring our systems, reports, and measures are aligned with enterprise-level strategy and goals.

This document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job. Employees may be required to perform other job-related duties.

We’re Looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; concentration in a quantitative field like Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 5-7+ years in a data analysis, business intelligence, or consulting role, preferably within an HR or People Analytics function.

What You Bring:

Strategic & Consulting Acumen:

  • A powerful ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for a senior leadership audience.
  • Deep diagnostic and consultative skills; you excel at partnering with stakeholders to move from ambiguous business problems to structured, high-impact analytics projects.
  • Core knowledge of key metrics for talent management, employee engagement, and organizational health.

Advanced Analytics & Technical Expertise:

  • Data Visualization & Storytelling: Advanced proficiency in designing and building insightful, scalable dashboards using tools like Tableau or Power BI is essential.
  • HR Technology: Deep experience with HRIS systems (Workday is highly desirable).
  • Analytics Tooling: Expert-level skills in MS Excel are required. Experience with SQL and a foundational understanding of data languages like Python or R is a strong advantage.
  • AI & Predictive Methods: A strong curiosity for and familiarity with AI/ML concepts and their application in a business context; hands-on experience building predictive models is a significant plus.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Direct influence on senior leadership decisions and the ability to shape enterprise-wide people strategy from the ground up.
  • A key role in designing and building a modern, AI-enabled People Analytics function.
  • The opportunity to build deep expertise in cutting-edge analytics techniques and apply them to complex business challenges.
  • A foundational role on a new, high-visibility team with a mandate for transformation.
