Job Description:

You know Boston. And you know that sometimes the best partnership is the one a client didn’t know to ask for.

Boston Globe Media is looking for an experienced seller who understands this market, knows how to build strong client relationships, and can turn business needs into smart, multi-platform Partnerships.

You’ll have a lot to work with: the Boston Globe, Boston.com, B-Side, newsletters, branded content, podcasts, signature and custom events, and a deeply engaged New England audience.

This is a growth role, but you won’t be starting from scratch. You’ll inherit existing revenue and relationships while developing new business across Boston’s enterprise and B2B community. The opportunity is to grow what’s already here while creating new reasons for clients to work with us.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and grow relationships with marketers, agencies and business leaders across Greater Boston and beyond.
  • Manage a mix of established clients and meaningful new-business opportunities.
  • Create opportunities proactively rather than waiting for briefs and RFPs.
  • Understand a client’s business and marketing priorities and turn that into relevant partnership ideas.
  • Develop programs across the Globe, Boston.com, B-Side, newsletters, branded content, podcasts, events and custom experiences.
  • Sell programs ranging from focused opportunities to larger multi-platform partnerships, typically in the 50-100k range.
  • Navigate complex accounts, bring the right internal teams together, and move ideas from first conversation through execution.

Qualifications:

  • You have a track record of selling sophisticated media partnerships and growing meaningful revenue, likely with 5–8+ years of experience in media, brand partnerships, sponsorships or another audience-driven business.
  • You know how to sell beyond a standard media plan. You’ve worked on partnerships that combine content, audience, events, newsletters, audio, video, sponsorship or other custom elements around a client’s objectives.
  • You are comfortable developing business yourself. You know how to identify the right companies, find the right people, earn a meeting and build a relationship over time.
  • Ideally, Boston is already part of your professional network. You have relationships with marketers, agencies and business leaders here, particularly across B2B, technology and major Boston-based companies.
  • You know how to work a complex account, navigate multiple stakeholders and sell ideas that aren’t completely pre-packaged. You also know how to bring the right people into an opportunity internally and keep things moving.
  • We’d be especially interested in people who have worked in premium media, business news, digital publishing, sports partnerships, sponsorships or another content- or audience-led business.
  • You have a willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
