The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for managing the implementation of IT-driven projects within Bright Horizons and their portfolio of lines of business. The SPM will be responsible for driving the full lifecycle of project delivery, from inception, business case creation and approval, through to requirements definition, implementation and roll out, working with a cross functional team of business and technical resources. The SPM will be ultimately accountable for the success of the project and work closely with the business sponsors of the project to ensure objectives are delivered as expected This role requires a self-starter able to independently take on challenges and implement technology solutions. This position requires an ability to move fluidly through a wide variety of assignments, using established processes and procedures. The Senior IT Project Manager will need to have strong attention to detail and be able to maintain a high bar for quality. This person will have great people and communication skills and the leadership skills to deliver the expected value to our partners.

What we hope you will bring to the role:

General Project Management Skills

  • Understand initiatives in order to facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, deliverables and ultimately create project work plans/scrum backlogs
  • Consult with management and review project proposals to determine goals, time frames, budgetary requirements, process and procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allocation of resources.
  • Develop project plans based on a clearly articulated approach and strategy; specifying required tasks and resources and their required skill sets, specific deliverables, milestones, dependencies, identification of risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Effectively drive the requirements definition process, working closely with the business analyst(s) and business stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project team members; driving accountability and engagement; coordinate activities of project resources to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
  • Monitor, report and follow-up on the status and next steps of all project components
  • Effectively identify, analyze and communicate downstream impacts of project changes; navigating project changes effectively by removing barriers.
  • Effectively apply Bright Horizons IT Project delivery methodology and enforce project standards
  • Prepare for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures
  • Minimize business exposure and risk on project. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Risk and Issue Management: Document monitor report and following-up on Risk, Action, Issue and Decision (RAID) items for of all project components

Communication

  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team and generate weekly and monthly status reports
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations that are effectively tailored to the intended audience
  • Adjust communication strategy and approach to match the needs of specific business groups, individuals and partners and ensure that all materials created for communicating and facilitating discussion of intended approach are carefully tailored to the intended audience to ensure that business owners are able to give complete and accurate feedback
  • Ensure that feedback from key business owners is fully acknowledged and incorporated into functional specifications, process flow diagrams and project plans to give business leaders the confidence that they are being heard and that their needs will be met
  • Serve as a communication bridge between business leaders and developers to facilitate understanding of initial requirements, questions and changes across these groups.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

Teamwork

  • Work closely with the business functional areas, technical teams and vendors in defining systems/project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements, timing of deliverables and funding.
  • Consistently acknowledge and appreciate each team member's contributions
  • Effectively utilize each team member to his/her fullest potential
  • Motivate team to work together in the most efficient manner
  • Facilitate retrospective reviews of project to ensure that course correction is possible in a proactive manner or that learnings can be applied to future projects
  • Mitigate team conflict with transparency to mitigate any risks to project success

What we hope you bring to the role:

  • 5-10 years of IT project planning and management experience, preferably within a technology department (ITPMO, Corporate Technology, Infrastructure, Information Security),or organization with experience in the following areas:
  • Full project lifecycle- from conception to production managing all aspects of solution delivery including; inception, scope definition, business case development and approval, resource planning, requirements gathering through development and ultimately deployment, budget management, status reporting, and risk management.
  • Leadership - Leading, motivating and directing a cross-functional workgroup while being flexible in a fast- paced, changing environment, prioritizing and executing tasks while reacting to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
  • Methodology - Expert understanding of formal project management methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall).
  • Experience with recognized project management tools and delivery tools including MS Project, SharePoint as well as different project management software; possess technical competency with various software programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Communication - Excellent facilitation, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to all functional groups, translating technical requirements and issues into appropriate business context.
  • Vendor Management - Apply best practices for management key business partnerships licit cooperation from a wide variety of sources including team members, other internal departments and external parties (such as 3rd party partners)
  • Self-Direction - Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment with rapid development cycles, multifunctional teams and tight project timeframes.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification, SaFE, Agile or equivalent desired
  • Limited travel may be required
