Position Summary
As a Senior Analyst, you will be part of the Client Services (PBM) Quality team. This team is engaged across multiple functions including the Testing Center of Excellence, with particular emphasis on testing the plan benefit configuration and ensuring that the testing results are in alignment with the benefit requirements. The position involves solving technical and business problems, process improvement, and increasing automation within the team. You will have the opportunity to use your technical and logical skills to automate existing manual business processes to increase innovation, efficiencies, and resource productivity. You will also work closely with internal and external partners on other key strategic initiatives including analysis of large data sets for metrics reporting and extrapolating and analyzing adjudication-related transactions at scale for various purposes. Through this, you will develop a thorough understanding of the business and the associated testing requirements needed annually to ensure ongoing client satisfaction and that the delivered solution meets technical specifications and design requirements.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Python Developer with a strong background in data engineering, DevOps practices, and scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Python, Kafka, NoSQL databases, PySpark, RESTful APIs, and DevOps tools and methodologies. Experience with PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) systems is a significant plus. Familiarity with monitoring, API management, and observability tools is also highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
- Build and optimize data pipelines using PySpark for large-scale data processing.
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to support internal and external applications.
- Work with Kafka for real-time data streaming and event-driven architecture.
- Manage and query NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and containerization using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
- Integrate and manage API gateways such as Kong or Apigee for secure and scalable API delivery.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues using tools like Splunk and AppDynamics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, DevOps engineers, and product managers.
- Apply domain knowledge in PBM to design solutions aligned with healthcare data standards and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of professional experience in software development with a focus on Python.
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka for real-time data processing.
- Proficiency in PySpark and distributed data processing.
- Solid understanding of REST API design and development.
- Experience with NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with Splunk for log analysis and monitoring.
- Familiarity with API gateways like Kong or Apigee.
- Experience with AppDynamics or similar APM tools.
- Familiarity with PBM systems or healthcare data workflows is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands on experience in PBM business
- 2+ years of experience in testing benefit configuration
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Knowledge of data security and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
- Knowledge of Generative AI preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$46,988.00 - $102,000.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
