Position Summary
Reporting to the Core Creative Manager for Experience Design, the Sr. Writer will lead the writing for various projects and initiatives within the Experience Design team. Projects may include interior and exterior environmental design, in-store signage and marketing communications, including seasonal, promotions, sales events, new product launches, digital screen content and customer takeaways.
This individual must have top-notch writing and editing skills, including a strong knowledge of proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. This person will have the ability to lead and generate ideas and themes, write concise descriptions of concepts, participate in aligning the customer journey with experiential design and write while taking direction from Creative Directors and business partners across departments.
The candidate will demonstrate strategic and creative problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of copy to develop compelling ideas that are on-brand and meet business objectives. This person will collaborate with other writers and designers to deliver on the project brief, expectations, and deliverables. Additionally, they should have the ability to influence creative concepts and provide creative input. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to sell creative ideas. A strong portfolio showing relevant work experience is required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and generate innovative creative writing ideas and solutions that deliver on and adhere to the brand vision and standards.
- Bring big ideas and creative to life across a wide range of unique projects through innovation and collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain trusted partnerships with peers, internal business teams and external agencies.
- Apply deep and demonstrated experience in writing for a broad range of deliverables which may include in-store signage and marketing communications such as seasonal, sales events, promotions, new product launches, digital screen content and customer takeaways.
- Successfully use skills and knowledge to create compelling campaign narratives, verbal concept directions, manifestos, and ideas that are on-brand, and meet or exceed business objectives.
- Partner with other senior writers on key brand initiatives and peer-review work for accuracy and consistency.
- Advise external agencies on adherence to copy guidelines, offering suggestions to streamline work for a consistent customer experience.
- Work in lockstep with senior designers/Associate Creative Directors, collaborating from concept to completion on tight timelines.
- Present work to internal peers, marketing and creative team leaders, confidently speaking to messaging structures and concepts.
- Proactively translate feedback into detailed, actionable copy edits while still delivering on the project brief and upholding enterprise brand tenets.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of working as a writer with an additional 2 years of experience in a senior writer position at a creative design firm, agency and/or corporate environment.
- Proven track record as a senior writer with a portfolio filled with examples of how your contributions assisted in the development of breakthrough creative.
- Top-notch writing and editing skills, including knowledge of proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
- Ability to generate and support creative copy concepts and executions that deliver and adhere to the brand vision, brand standards and all copy style guides while advocating for and ensuring consistency across all work.
- Ability to understand a creative brief, think strategically and translate marketing insights into clear, conversational, caring and encouraging messaging for customers.
- Ability to pitch strong creative ideas to internal business partners and creative team leaders.
- Knowledge of retail and environmental design and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrate a passion for strategic and creative problem solving paired with a deep understanding of design.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
- Ability to prioritize workload based on key initiatives and time-sensitive, competing or changing deadlines.
- Ability to balance feedback from multiple sources including marketing, merchandising, proofreading, legal, clinical, and vendor teams.
- Must be well-organized and able to communicate ideas and develop strategies.
- An enthusiastic and positive attitude, an adaptable and solution-based mindset, and the willingness to do what it takes to get the job done, which may include extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work and thrive in a remote team setup.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Technical skills include MS Office and Mac proficiency. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Health care and retail experience
- Experience working in creative-focused design firm, agency and/or corporate environment
- Familiarity with AI and MRM solutions a plus
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising/Communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The typical pay range for this role is:
$66,330.00 - $145,860.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
