Role Summary

This highly visible leadership role drives Aetna’s business growth and reputation in the local market as the primary market representative. The Lead Director builds influential partnerships with brokers, clients, and community partners, and mobilizes cross-functional teams to execute market strategy and advance local priorities. The role is accountable for strategic business consultation, enterprise alignment, and external market impact—delivering measurable results and broad recognition for Aetna in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

-Market Presence & Leadership: Serve as the salient leadership representative in the local market, building a strong external profile through speaking engagements, broker/client/provider meetings, and participation on local non-profit boards. Be recognized as the “face of Aetna” and a leader within the community.
-Strategy Facilitation & Execution: Co-own the development of market strategy with senior leadership, actively facilitating and executing initiatives that deliver growth. Gather input from market and enterprise partners, then lead the execution of agreed-upon plans.
-Enterprise & Cross-Functional Alignment: Influence and align enterprise teams (Product, Network, Actuary, Underwriting, Finance, Strategic Partnerships, Medical Management, Marketing, Community Affairs, etc.) to prioritize and deliver on local market needs. Convene and facilitate cross-functional teams to ensure market priorities are understood and achieved.
-Market Growth Enablement: Enable and empower the sales team by supporting local value proposition positioning, supporting sales training, driving pipeline development and retention, and partnering on broker engagement strategy (including forums, advisory councils, and education events).
-External Relationship Management: Build and maintain influential relationships with external partners, brokers, clients, and providers to advance Aetna’s reputation and market growth objectives.
-Business Consulting & Compliance: Advise management through strategic business consultation, leveraging data and insight to support organizational goals. Participate in compliance-related projects and address compliance issues as needed in collaboration with relevant partners.
-Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and enhance business consulting processes, using analytics and feedback to drive exceptional service and process improvement.

Requirements:

• 7-10 years’ experience in sales, account management, business development and/or related field

• Healthcare experience
• Proven ability to lead and influence in a highly matrixed environment.
• Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, especially in external forums.
• Action-oriented, with a track record of facilitating and executing complex initiatives.
• Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strategic thinker able to translate vision into action and results.
• High adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, and a collaborative approach.
• Mastery of problem-solving, business intelligence, and execution/delivery skills.

• Ability to travel in assigned market.

Preferred qualification:

• Location: Texas preferred but will consider Oklahoma or New Mexico

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, specialized training or relevant professional qualification a plus

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
