Position Summary:

The Executive Director, Asset Protection Strategy & Operations provides enterprise-wide leadership for asset protection strategy, analytics, and operational execution across CVS Health. This role is accountable for designing and delivering comprehensive programs that mitigate shrink, theft, fraud, and loss across retail locations, distribution centers, and corporate facilities, while driving measurable financial and operational outcomes.

Reporting to the Vice President, Asset Protection, this leader partners closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams to influence strategy, embed asset protection as a core business capability, and enable sustainable, data-driven decision-making at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Lead a team of 4–5 direct reports and an extended organization of 30+ colleagues across analytics, finance, technology, systems support, and operations.
  • Design, implement, and own end-to-end asset protection strategies and enterprise programs, ensuring disciplined execution, governance, and accountability for results.
  • Analyze shrink, theft, and fraud trends at both granular and enterprise levels to identify risks, root causes, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Translate complex data and insights into clear, actionable strategies that improve asset protection effectiveness and deliver measurable financial impact.

Enterprise & Cross-Functional Influence

  • Provide cross-functional leadership on high-priority, enterprise-wide initiatives requiring coordination across Retail, Pharmacy, Supply Chain, Corporate Operations, Technology, Finance, and Legal.
  • Build alignment and influence with Vice Presidents and senior leaders across Pharmacy, Front Store, and Corporate Operations.
  • Partner with business leaders to proactively identify vulnerabilities and areas of loss exposure and develop scalable mitigation strategies.

Organizational Enablement & Capability Building

  • Advance enterprise asset protection strategies that educate, engage, and enable colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Support and reinforce the five strategic pillars of the Asset Protection organization.
  • Strengthen the connection between field and corporate teams while expanding enterprise capabilities, tools, and skills that support long-term growth and resilience.

Talent Development & Culture

  • Attract, develop, coach, retain, and promote top talent within Asset Protection and across the broader enterprise.
  • Foster a growth mindset culture focused on agility, continuous improvement, and leadership development.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner and advisor, enabling teams to deliver sustainable, high-impact outcomes.

Business Partnership

  • Act as a primary business partner to Executive Directors and senior leaders in Field and Corporate organizations supporting Pharmacy and Front Store Operations.
  • Influence strategic and operational decisions through strong executive relationships, credibility, and insight-driven recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in asset protection, loss prevention, operations, strategy, analytics, or related leadership roles within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven ability to design and execute large-scale, multi-year enterprise strategies from concept through delivery, sustainment, and measurable financial results.
  • Strong business intelligence, analytical, and financial acumen, with the ability to translate insights into executive-level decisions.
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills across highly matrixed environments.
  • Advanced problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in fast-paced, high-risk operational settings.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with a strong track record of developing leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Working knowledge of AI, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies applied to security, fraud prevention, and retail operations.
  • Strong understanding of store operations, supply chain, and distribution center environments, including field execution challenges.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in continuous improvement, operational excellence, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with or presenting to C-suite and senior executive leadership teams on risk, financial impact, and strategic trade-offs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or similar) a plus.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$131,500.00 - $303,195.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
