Position Summary

The Lead Director, Portfolio Development and Business Intelligence, helps Retail Operations Innovation and Execution Team find and prioritize the next set of improvements that will make the business run better and drive results. This role looks for problems and opportunities across Retail workflows (for example: unmet customer or colleague needs, inefficient processes, cost opportunities, or growth opportunities) and turns them into clear, fundable initiatives.

You’ll work closely with partners across Operations, Finance, IT/DDAT, Digital, Growth, Payer Relations, and Omnichannel to:

  • Identify opportunities worth pursuing and explain why they matter
  • Use data and analysis to size the impact, costs, and tradeoffs
  • Build business cases that outline expected value, investment needed, key risks, and success measures
  • Test and refine ideas early (for example, quick pilots or prototypes) so teams can learn fast before committing significant time or money
  • Make sure each initiative is clearly defined, feasible to execute, and grounded in how work actually gets done in retail operations
  • Hand off well-defined initiatives to business and technology teams for build and rollout, with clear owners and next steps
  • Track whether initiatives deliver the expected value after launch, and flag issues early if they don’t

You’ll also be accountable for the business intelligence and business analysis “engine” that supports Retail Operations Innovation and Execution Team’s decision-making. That includes:

  • Setting the roadmap and priorities for business analysis tools, dashboards, and recurring reporting
  • Overseeing delivery and ongoing maintenance so outputs stay accurate, trusted, and easy to use
  • Defining standards for data definitions, metrics, and documentation so teams are working from the same source of truth
  • Building a service model (intake, triage, SLA’s, and release cadence) so requests don’t turn into ad hoc work
  • Monitoring adoption and usefulness, and making updates based on feedback from users
  • Leading and developing teams with strong technical skills in SQL and visualization tools like tableau and Power BI, ensuring the team can deliver high-quality work at speed

This role is a bridge between strategy and execution: you’ll help leaders make good investment decisions, align stakeholders, clarify ownership, and keep the portfolio focused on the highest-value work within capacity and budget.
