Position Summary
The Data Center Technician II (DC Tech) is accountable for implementing Data Center standards, documenting all installs, maintaining best practices, performing system monitoring and analytics, and providing top tier (level 4) operational support. This key technical position is responsible for the racking and cabling for all data center infrastructure equipment. This includes servers, storage, databases & network. The DC Tech will also be responsible for troubleshooting any cabling or equipment issues.
What you'll do
Oversee site operations and projects
Coordinate operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment in the data center performed by the local Data Center mechanical teams by reporting any possible risk to our operation
Maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs at a minimum
Ensure overall availability and reliability, meeting or exceeding defined service level expectations for the data center operations
Required Qualifications
2 - 5 years of Enterprise Data Center experience – applicant must have “hands-on equipment” expertise with the ability to install and troubleshoot infrastructure
Hands on experience with various tool sets supporting monitoring and alerting across diverse platforms
Integration experience working with event correlation platforms and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow
Lead and partner with data center hosting team in the planning & executing of preventive maintenance
Assist in performing root cause analysis for install issues or incidents caused by infrastructure
Manage on site assessments and audits of operations, electrical and mechanical systems
Drive operational excellence of the Data Center team
Perform first level troubleshooting for basic network, electrical, hardware and rack level events
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent communication skills; must be an efficient and effective communicator
Approve and track all Change Management tasks/tickets, enabling changes and maintenance work at the site
Lead and perform basic support functions such as opening/closing/fulfilling tickets, performing root cause analysis and prioritizing tasks
Lead and perform racking, network connectivity, and powering of all hardware at the data center
Install and troubleshoot all types of low-voltage cable (copper, ethernet, fiber), including but not limited to testing & labeling of all cables & panels
Managing Vendors – In coordination with the Lead, maintains a relationship with the vendors that supply and support the electrical and mechanical systems and components. When possible, attends major system preventive maintenance and repair activities
Perform component replacements of hard drives, power supplies, and other system components as needed
Responding to Escalations – Follows escalation processes and acts as first responder to major equipment and system issues
Manage the multiple teams and vendors engaged in the equipment deployment process (i.e. – network, server, database, application, and/or storage systems) within the data center/location
Perform asset and inventory management functions of all technology infrastructure housed within our data centers
Communicate all projects to the Project Owner/Project Management team and provide summary updates to lead
Writing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) – In coordination with Engineering and Central Plant, write MOPs for preventive and corrective maintenance
Possess foundational Windows Server OS knowledge including Command Prompt Commands; necessary for basic implementation and troubleshooting tasks (i.e. – power cycling, basic network functions, re-IPing, re-naming and moving domains)
Working knowledge of HVAC & UPS systems including rack mount UPS devices
Candidate selected will have to travel several times throughout the year to other business locations
Ability to lift heavy equipment
Must be able to travel between local data centers & office locations

The typical pay range for this role is:
$79,310.00 - $158,620.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
