Position Summary
The Executive Director, Rx Trade Strategy & Analytics is a highly visible leadership role within Rx Trade and Supply Chain, responsible for shaping trade strategy and advancing the analytics capabilities that inform enterprise decision-making.
This leader sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and execution—leading a high-performing team to translate complex data into clear recommendations that guide pharmaceutical contracting, pricing, and supply decisions across CVS Health’s Retail, Mail, and Specialty Pharmacy businesses.
This role is critical as CVS Health continues to evolve its trade strategy and modernize analytics capabilities to enable faster, more data-driven decision-making. The Executive Director will drive cross-functional initiatives, align senior stakeholders, and ensure insights translate into measurable operational and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Strategy Leadership
Lead cross-functional trade strategy initiatives from problem definition through decision and execution, with clear ownership of outcomes
Develop executive-ready narratives that communicate recommendations, trade-offs, risks, and decision points to VP+ leadership
Analyze complex trade and supply dynamics to inform pricing, contracting, distribution, and sourcing strategies
Drive alignment across Trade, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Finance, and related partners to ensure strategies translate into sustained operational change
Analytics Strategy & Capability Leadership
Define and execute the vision, roadmap, and operating model for Rx Trade Strategy & Analytics
Scale self-service analytics capabilities, including KPI design, governance, semantic layers, and adoption enablement
Lead development of advanced analytical tools and decision support capabilities that inform trade strategy, supply chain operations, and pharmaceutical sourcing decisions
Advance predictive and scenario-based analytics (e.g., forecasting, what-if modeling) to improve trade and supply outcomes
Partner with technology and data teams to advance analytics transformation efforts, improving the accessibility, reliability, and speed of insights
Champion the use of AI and automation to accelerate analytics delivery, improve repeatability, and enhance decision quality
Leadership & Influence
Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders, balancing strategic perspective with execution rigor
Translate complex analytics into clear, actionable insights and ensure decisions are adopted across the business
Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering strong technical capability, business acumen, and accountability
Operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment, influencing stakeholders and driving alignment across competing priorities
Required Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience across strategy, analytics, insights, or decision science roles with increasing scope and business ownership
Experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or related industries, with exposure to supply chain, pricing, or commercial operations
Demonstrated track record leading cross-functional strategy initiatives from problem framing through execution, with measurable business impact
Proven ability to influence VP+ stakeholders and communicate complex concepts in a clear, actionable manner
Ability to operate in ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and deliver through others in a dynamic environment
Experience building and scaling self-service analytics capabilities and driving adoption across business teams
Practical experience leveraging AI or advanced analytics to accelerate delivery, improve repeatability, and enhance decision-making
Strong technical fluency (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau, ThoughtSpot, GCP or similar platforms)
Experience applying predictive modeling or scenario analysis to support business or commercial decision-making will be highly valued
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree will be highly valued
Ability to travel as required
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$131,500.00 - $303,195.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
