Position Summary
The Account Executive (AE) is the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of mid‑market and coalition employer pharmacy benefit manager clients. The AE owns client relationships, renewals, financial performance, and ongoing service delivery within established pharmacy benefit manager frameworks, working in close conjunction with a Managing Director.
This role is intended for experienced healthcare professionals who are new to full account ownership. The AE is accountable for execution and outcomes, with active guidance, review, and escalation support from the Managing Director as account responsibility and complexity increase.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned mid‑market and coalition pharmacy benefit manager clients
- Lead client communication, issue resolution, and ongoing engagement with executive-level judgment
- Build trusted relationships with benefits, HR, finance, and operational stakeholders
- Orchestrate cross‑functional delivery across clinical, operations, product, analytics, finance, and implementation teams
- Partner with the Managing Director on strategy, prioritization, and complex client situations
Renewals, Retention & Growth
- Own renewal planning and execution for assigned accounts within standard pricing and guarantee frameworks
- Prepare and deliver renewal materials, financial summaries, and client presentations
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance client value and address emerging needs
- Maintain accountability for satisfaction, retention, and revenue performance, with Managing Director oversight and a disciplined, client-first approach
Financial Ownership
- Manage account financial performance, including trend analysis, guarantees, and key pricing drivers
- Translate financial and pharmacy benefit manager concepts into clear, client‑ready insights
- Partner with underwriting and finance on renewal modeling and scenario analysis
- Review non‑standard, higher‑risk, or sensitive financial decisions with the Managing Director
Data, Analytics & Tools
- Use analytics platforms and AI‑enabled tools to monitor performance, identify risks or opportunities, and generate actionable client insights
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting and client deliverables
- Improve account effectiveness through disciplined use of tools, automation, and standard processes
Market Awareness
- Maintain working knowledge of pharmacy benefit manager, managed care, and healthcare market developments
- Apply regulatory, clinical, and market insights to client discussions and renewal planning
Client Segment & Scope
AE‑owned accounts typically include mid‑market employers and coalition clients with:
- Standard or moderately complex benefit designs
- Moderate financial and operational complexity
- Limited regulatory, labor, or governance requirements
The Managing Director provides ongoing direction, review, and escalation support as account risk or complexity increases.
Success Measures
- High levels of client satisfaction and retention
- Effective execution of renewals and account deliverables through prioritization, follow-through and sound judgement
- Sound financial management and decision making, informed by data and analytics
- Clear, professional client communication supported by timely, insight‑driven materials
- Strong partnership with the Managing Director and internal teams
Location & Travel
- Remote within the U.S. or based in a CVS Health office
- Up to 30–40% travel, including occasional overnight travel
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare, sales, or account management
- Client‑facing experience with employer or coalition accounts
- Experience managing renewals, financial discussions, and client deliverables
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to leverage data and AI‑enabled tools for decision making
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing mid‑market or coalition pharmacy benefit management clients
- Prior ownership of renewals or request for proposal (RFP) responses
- Comfort with analytics tools and dashboards
- Experience working across complex, matrixed organizations
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The typical pay range for this role is:
$60,400.00 - $126,582.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
