Position Summary
CVS Health’s Analytics & Behavior Change (A&BC) organization is focused on solving complex challenges at the intersection of healthcare, data, and technology. A&BC leverages advanced analytics, machine learning, and a hypothesis-driven approach to transform data into actionable, customer-centric insights that drive growth, improve health outcomes, and expand access to care across the enterprise. Our teams build next-generation data and machine learning platforms in the cloud to support more than 100 million consumers.
As the Director, Data Partnerships & Monetization, you will set and lead the enterprise strategy for CVS Health’s external data partnerships and monetization portfolio. This role owns the vision, roadmap, and commercial performance of our data licensing business, while serving as the executive-level authority on strategic third-party data assets. You will operate as a highly visible, cross-functional leader—partnering with senior executives, external healthcare and technology partners, and internal data, product, and engineering organizations—to translate data capabilities into scalable commercial offerings and measurable business impact. This role requires a leader who can independently drive strategy, influence at the executive level, and build repeatable models that enable long-term growth.
What you will do:
Enterprise Data Partnerships & Commercial Strategy (≈60%)
- You will define and scale CVS Health’s external data partnership and monetization strategy—expanding our presence across healthcare, life sciences, technology, and adjacent industries.
- Identify, source, and develop new data partnership and commercialization opportunities across healthcare, life sciences, technology, and adjacent industries.
- Build and manage a pipeline of strategic partnerships, engaging prospective partners and advancing opportunities from initial discussions through deal execution.
- Develop and standardize repeatable partnership models, including how partnerships are structured, governed, and operated, to enable scalable growth.
- Represent CVS Health in external forums, conferences, and partner meetings to expand market presence and originate new opportunities.
- Partner with the VP of Data Products and Monetization to shape and advance new partnership opportunities, including developing commercial materials, defining partnership structures, and supporting external discussions.
- Establish repeatable, scalable partnership frameworks (e.g., pricing models, governance structures, operating models) to support sustainable growth.
Portfolio Ownership & Operational
- Own the performance and operational health of the data licensing portfolio, including revenue tracking, growth targets, and partner satisfaction.
- Oversee delivery of data products to external partners, ensuring reliability, scalability, and adherence to SLAs.
- Lead cross-functional coordination across Engineering, Product, Legal, and partner teams to deliver enhancements, resolve issues, and evolve product offerings.
- Establish and scale standardized operating rhythms, including quarterly business reviews, performance reporting, and forward-looking roadmap alignment.
- Ensure high-quality, enterprise-grade documentation and technical transparency for all external data products.
Strategic Data Sourcing & Enterprise Enablement (≈40%)
- You will serve as the enterprise leader for third-party data strategy—ensuring external data assets are effectively leveraged across CVS Health to unlock business value.
- Act as the senior internal authority on strategic third-party data assets, guiding adoption, use case development, and value realization.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Analytics, Product, and Engineering to align external data capabilities with high-priority business use cases.
- Drive enterprise-wide enablement through scalable documentation, governance, and self-service frameworks.
- Oversee data quality, coverage, and performance, proactively addressing risks and optimizing partner value.
- Lead evaluation and sourcing of new external data assets to expand internal capabilities and support innovation.
- Enable integration of external data into analytics workflows and product development to drive measurable outcomes and business impact.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in data product management, partnerships, business development, analytics operations, or a related field.
- 5+ years leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Analytics, Legal, Product and external partners with a degree of autonomy.
- 5 + years demonstrating strong communication skills — effectively translating technical concepts for business audiences and business requirements for engineering teams.
- 5+ years managing or supporting external client or partner relationships, ideally in a B2B data, analytics, or healthcare technology context.
- 3+ years working hands-on with large, structured datasets, including: SQL or equivalent data querying and interpreting schemas, pipelines and delivery mechanisms (APIs, feeds, files).
- 3+ years’ experience building and maintaining product or technical documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare data, claims data, or health analytics platforms.
- Familiarity with third-party healthcare data assets, including licensing, evaluation, onboarding, or ongoing management.
- Experience supporting or participating in commercial partnership discussions or deal processes, including pricing inputs, contract terms, renewals, or expansions.
- Ability to independently run basic statistical analyses or data quality checks (Python, R, or SQL).
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, or similar).
Education
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a quantitative, analytical, or technical field (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Economics, or related discipline).
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
