VP, Strategy, Planning and Enablement

Strategic Advisers LLC (SAI) is a leading innovator of managed account solutions for Fidelity Investments and currently the #3 ranked Managed Account platform in the industry. SAI has experienced tremendous growth in the last 3 years (57% AUM, 26% headcount growth) and is expecting further growth acceleration in the coming years. We have a long history of delivering innovative solutions to the marketplace and driving strong outcomes for clients. SAI's core capabilities are multi-asset class portfolio construction, third-party fundamental manager research, investment guidance, and financial planning. SAI supports all of Fidelity’s distribution channels, running discretionary managed accounts for Personal Investing and Workplace investing, while delivering model portfolios for Fidelity Institutional’s intermediary clients.

The VP, Strategy, Planning and Enablement, leads the team responsible for the development, communication, and execution of Strategic Advisers’ business strategy, in partnership with the senior team. This team drives multi-year planning and prioritization for our organization. The team also partners with leaders across Strategic Advisers to assess a wide range of opportunities and business challenges and build strategies to address and to articulate past results, insights and future roadmaps. The VP works closely with the president of SAI to structure senior discussions, quarterly business reviews, and various engagements with the executive team, business partners, and the Strategic Advisers Fund Board. The VP and team also lead SAI internal associate communications and various leadership forums as well as site/real estate strategy.

The Expertise You Have

  • 10+ years investment industry, corporate strategy, or management consulting experience
  • 5+ years leading teams
  • Strong background partnering across multiple business units to build alignment and drive execution prioritization
  • MBA is beneficial, but not required

  • Ability to build positive relationships and influence across all levels of the organization and with business partners outside of SAI
  • Ability to identify critical topics and facilitate strategic decision-making efforts with SAI senior executives
  • Ability to maintain an independent point-of view and actively solicit partner opinions to identify and respond to the comprehensive needs of the business (e.g., site strategy, planning, resource prioritization, culture, communications)
  • Ability to apply sound business judgment in balancing growth and risk in a high growth, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical skills and capabilities, including ability to structure problems, drive analytics, and connect different work or themes across an organization
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Deep knowledge of asset management industry or managed accounts business
  • Ability to look forward to objectively define future business needs, challenges, and capabilities needed in a business doubling in size / complexity every 4-5 years

The Value You Deliver

This role is crucial to SAI’s ability to drive business growth and complexity by providing an independent, analytical approach to identifying future needs and defining efforts required to ensure those needs are met. This position will report into the Head of Investment Services for Strategic Advisers; specific responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities: Demonstrating strategic planning, change management, and executive influencing skills to continuously evaluate, assess, and deliver recommendations across SAI’s high-growth, high complexity business with critical business objectives, operating environment, and platform infrastructure.

  • Team Management: Lead and support team of five professionals through including coaching and development. Drive prioritization of resources and engagement with key partners to ensure most impactful alignment of team’s portfolio of work.
  • Executive Advisory: Provide structure and coordination to ensure the SAI Senior Team engagement on relevant topics internal and external to SAI
  • SAI Strategic / Operating Planning: Collaboratively develop SAI’s Strategic Plan in alignment (AM, channels) and ensure Operating Plans support execution of key objectives, including business goals, technology, and space / reentry planning.
  • Cross-SAI Programs / Org Support: Provide consulting, facilitation, and execution support on strategic programs that span multiple functions across our organization.
  • Communications: Develop and deliver on SAI’s communications strategy (e.g., All Associates, memos, social media) and support executive-level content development (e.g., FMR LLC Board, Strategic Advisers Fund Board)
