Creates system workflows and improves upon new, existing, and in-development systems to assess accuracy, functionality, dependability, and maintainability by leveraging tools such as Python. Maintains capabilities for data and databases, including data warehousing and dimensional data models, by leveraging tools and concepts such as SQL and Stored Procedures. Produces and maintains system feature design documentation by leveraging technical project management tools such as Jira. Provides analysis leadership on complex systems analysis projects, often across subsystems and companies, in a matrix organization. Consult with business users to develop recommendations that address difficult and complex business needs and opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leads and conducts interviews with business users to gather requirements, and analyzes technology needs and system and workflow challenges.
- Develops recommendations that address difficult and complex business needs and opportunities.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex systems analysis projects, and defines project scope.
- Leads other analysts in the execution of documents on large and complex projects and monitors the quality and progress of documents created by other analysts.
- Designs new systems based on requirements.
- Leads and participates in the definition of test strategies, and coordinates user acceptance testing efforts.
- Communicates progress of multiple projects to management, engages stakeholders on a regular basis, and manages expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
- Serves as industry subject matter expert, and identifies other subject matter experts who are the sources of requirements for large and complex projects.
- Works with other teams to evolve standards and best practices for systems analysis processes.
- Participates in incident/crisis management to assess business impact, determine/facilitate any workarounds, in concert with the production support organization.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies.
- Coaches and mentors junior product analysts and developers on systems analysis techniques and business workflows.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing complex data analysis to design, document, and implement data warehouse and ETL solutions in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Systems Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing complex data analysis to design, document, and implement data warehouse and ETL solutions in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing complex data analysis to design and implement data warehouse and ETL solutions in a retirement benefits administration environment using Snowflake and Informatica PowerCenter.
- DE gathering and streamlining Financial Services business requirements to create technical specifications that enhance overall process functionality by implementing DataMarts, logical and physical data modeling, and ETL standards.
- DE performing Program Increment (PI) planning and developing PI objectives, schedules, capacity planning, quality control, and release management plans using CI/CD Tools, Scheduling Programs, and Python and UNIX Shell Scripting.
- DE reviewing code failures, code and query errors and long running queries to debug, performance, tune, and implement fail-over strategies.
