Position Description:

Provides investment analysis for one or more Fixed Income portfolio management teams. Works closely with portfolio managers, traders, research analysts and investment operations professionals to facilitate the investment process. Works with fixed income investing, and portfolio analysis and implementation techniques to ensure portfolios are structured appropriately relative to their benchmarks, strategies, or risk objectives, and portfolio targets for cash, duration, and currency exposures are managed appropriately. Provides technology engagement and data management capabilities. Performs independent continuous improvement of investment processes and skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes shareholder/client activity and works with Portfolio Managers on investment and divestment options.

  • Creates trade orders and ensure orders, trades, and portfolios are in compliance.

  • Partners with traders to execute strategies appropriately.

  • Serves as a team domain expert and shares knowledge across teams.

  • Uses technical skills (SQL and Python) to improve and iterate existing tools.

  • Proactively develops new tools to create efficiencies and reduce operational risk.

  • Partners with enterprise technology teams with respect to ongoing improvements to portfolio tools and platforms.

  • Works to develop an understanding of market inputs, credits, macro-economic environment, valuation etc. through interactions with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders.

  • Performs quantitative analysis in Investment Grade (IG) Credit and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) to generate trade ideas and improve the investment methodology.

  • Streamlines the investment process and reduce operational risk through measurement and reporting.

  • Contributes to the implementation, launch, on-going management, and improvement of investment strategies using scalable methodologies.

  • Develops constructive relationships with research analysts, quantitative analysts, traders, and investment operations to support the investment process as the business scales.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Finance, Quantitative and Computational Finance, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Portfolio Analyst II (or closely related occupation) performing providing support for fixed income processes and funds, monitoring fixed income markets, and building tools/creating processes to monitor fixed income securities.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Finance, Quantitative and Computational Finance, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience as a Portfolio Analyst II (or closely related occupation) providing support for fixed income processes and funds, monitoring fixed income markets, and building tools/creating processes to monitor fixed income securities.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) building reports to analyze and monitor US investment grade fixed income exposures including duration, using VBA, Python, and SQL.

  • DE assessing market risk and relative value of US investment grade fixed income securities (municipal, corporate, government, and mortgage-backed securities) by evaluating bond structures, economic data, and sensitivity to changes in interest rates and credit spreads (using Bloomberg and models built with Python).

  • DE building Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) data infrastructure to aid in idea generation workflows with a focus on climate data and assessing decarbonization ambition of corporate entities by building models in Python and Excel using vendor data.

  • DE guiding technical teams and building investment tools for day-to-day operations and research using Angular and Dash applications.
