Job Description:

Fidelity Investments Workplace Solutions (WS) organization is looking for a Director of engineering. This person will be playing a key role in designing and crafting a modern Data and Analytics platform in the cloud to support Equity Compensation products for the Global markets. This person will be working closely with enterprise architects, squad leaders, chapter team leaders, engineers and business SMEs to define future strategy and solution and ensure stability of underlying platform. As a leader this person will understand the current state of the systems and identify opportunities.

The Team

You will be part of the technology team in Stock Plan Services business unit that administers equity compensation programs on behalf of public and private companies offering various compensations programs such as: Employee Stock Purchase Plans, Restricted Stock Awards/Units, Stock Option Plans, Stock Appreciation Rights and Performance based Awards. Currently SPS services approx. 2M participants employed by over 500 clients and spread out in 150 countries. The business is looking to further expand in the international equity compensation markets. At the same time we are modernizing our legacy reporting and business analytics platform to provide data and reports in real-time running on cloud-ready stack.

The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.
  • 12+ years of demonstrable experience in Information Technology functions
  • 4+ years of experience in technology product management and project management
  • 4+ of years of experience Agile software development and associated practices
  • Passion for engineering excellence, empowering others and collaboration across the enterprise
  • Good attention to detail and willingness to independently analyze needs and impact of changes to the Production environment
  • Detailed understanding of release, change, problem and project management principles and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills to understand complex customer needs and transactions
  • Ownership mentality focused on owning stable and quality technology capabilities
  • Your ability to collaborate with other technical and business specialists in the team
  • Your experience in executing on initiatives in an Agile and matrixed environment
  • Verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence the desired outcome for all
  • Your ability to learn and experiment with new technologies and patterns
  • Your passion to nurture modern test driven and automation driven software development methodologies

The skills you bring

  • Advanced skills in data intensive application development, data integration, and data pipeline design patterns on a distributed platform
  • Strong knowledge of designing data engineering solutions and platforms
  • Working experience with Relational Databases like Oracle
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as OBIEE, PowerBI or Tableau
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud native data warehousing and data lake solutions using Snowflake, Redshift etc.
  • Experience building scalable patterns for data consumption from cloud based data-lakes.
  • Advanced experience with PL/SQL and complex queries
  • Solid understanding of Cloud Computing and DevOps concepts including CI/CD pipelines
  • Significant experience with ELT data integration and data movement design patterns
  • Software development in the fields of data engineering, analytics, data warehouse and reporting
  • Prior hands-on skills with databases, applications and data integration patterns including ETL
  • Focus on solid architecture and design principles

  • Support the run-time production environment and serve as senior point of contact for all incidents
  • Partnership with technology and infrastructure teams for planning and managing upgrades
  • Communicate changes, incidents, and status to senior leadership in product area and chapter area
  • Ensure software development standards are established and adhered to by all squads aligned to the roadmap
  • Partner with squad leads and other chapter teams to build the roadmap and help with prioritization
  • Impact analysis and communications of changes across Agile teams and manage delivery calendar
  • Measure team’s success and results and adjust accordingly
  • Remove impediments for squads and chapter teams
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment across multi-functional teams
  • Talent growth and assignments to position the teams for delivering value on strategic priorities

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Working experience with Relational Databases like Oracle
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as OBIEE, PowerBI or Tableau

  • Experience building scalable patterns for data consumption from cloud based data-lakes.
  • Advanced experience with PL/SQL and complex queries
