Director, Data Engineering - Hybrid role in Merrimack, NH location only.
The Role
You will contribute as leader in our fast-paced team in the design, development, implementation of data capabilities that support web-based applications across the enterprise. The work of your team will help build analytics solutions to enable leaders to make real-time business decisions, better optimize their portfolio of delivery work, and bring more value to Fidelity and our customers. Your contributions will provide insights into the work and priorities of people at all levels of the organization. This understanding empowers associates and leaders to look across delivery teams, product areas and domains to better understand dependencies, shared work progress and how their work connects to Fidelity’s overall strategy and enterprise priorities. Applications & technologies may include but are not limited to: PowerBI, and other analytics tools, intranet sites, proprietary internal associate management systems, and data capabilities that may function between these and other systems.
Expect to use your knowledge of development and testability to architect better design, promote accurate engineering decisions, and implement bug prevention strategies which are both scalable and maintainable across this set of key responsibilities:
- Review and participate in the development of technical design documents
- Design / develop database tier business logic for web applications
- Design and modify SQL stored procedures where applicable
- Generate reports from data warehouse and/or BI Tools
- Architect and navigate Oracle database tables and objects
- Develop and modify PL-SQL packages, stored procedures
- Participate in Unit Testing along with SIT and UAT planning
- Communicate required changes to move code into the production environment
- Support ongoing maintenance and bug fixes as needed
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise class Data Engineering roles
- Significant leadership responsibility in previous roles
- Desire and ability to lead a team of ~8 data engineers & analysts
- Comprehensive knowledge of application architecture
- Demonstrated experience with CI/CD processes
- Strong background with data modeling
- Recent successes leveraging Cloud and Big Data concepts and tools
(AWS, RDS, Data Lake, Snowflake) - 10+ years database development (SQL and/or Oracle)
- Expert in ETL/ELT
- Proficient in the following technologies: Postgres, Oracle 19g/PL-SQL, Python, Shell Scripting
- Experience with business intelligence development with a focus on PowerBI
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, positive approach, and a desire to work in an exciting position!
- Excellent organizational, communication and social skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed.
- Detailed oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, tasks, and on-time delivery
- Proficiency in agile software development methods
