Director, Software Engineering - Digital Marketing

The Team

Fidelity's Workplace Investing (WI) CRM Solutions chapter designs, develops, implements, and supports features that enable thousands of WI associates in the acquisition of new business and the daily support of our valued clients. As a Director of Software Engineering, you will collaborate with the MarTech team, a part of the WI Client Engagement Tools & Support function, which is dedicated to designing and delivering capabilities and customer experiences that enable seamless and effective engagement with our clients. You will work closely with the MarTech Product Area Lead and approximately seven agile squads to develop and support scalable, personalized, and measurable capabilities and experiences across all customer engagement channels. You will provide guidance and mentor developers within the wider MarTech team.

The Value You Deliver:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Defines and executes on tech vision in consultation with architecture, engineering and product leadership.

  • Facilitates the alignment of the product roadmap with tech driven initiatives.

  • Brings tech vision to life; emphasizes platform stability, engineering excellence, and builds a plan to address end-of-life technologies.

Coaching & Mentoring:

  • Mentors agile teams including developers, testers and analysts. Serves as a link between product and architecture.

  • Creates next-gen tech leads by investing significant efforts in coaching and mentoring associates.

  • Serves as the authority on technical solutions and standards.

Hands-on Engineering:

  • Acquires expertise in Fidelity-specific practices while knowing the latest with industry standards. Shapes engineering guidelines, ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest industry trends.

  • Works on strategic projects that span multiple business units and product teams. Provides technical guidance and leadership. Gets into details and takes on development activities.

  • Serves as the steward of tech vision, delivers on complex projects with a focus on incremental value delivery to achieve the tech vision.

Scope:

  • Provides technical leadership to multiple agile teams.

  • Works across business units to develop an engaged engineering community. Maintains focus on strong engineering excellence.

  • Serves as a developer advocate. Brings developer experience concerns to the fore and helps improve developer experience.

The Expertise You Bring:

  • 10+ years technology experience with progression toward leadership responsibilities

  • Deep understanding of MarTech platforms, data integration, and digital campaign enablement.

  • Hands on technical experience with CRM (e.g. Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud), Marketing Automation (e.g. Marketing Cloud), Customer Data Platforms (e.g. Twilio Segment), Content Management Systems (e.g. Adobe Experience Manager), Digital Asset Management Systems, and other enterprise MarTech tools.

  • Hands on experience developing cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, with proficiency in Azure App Services, Azure Functions, and integration with PostgreSQL databases using Azure Database for PostgreSQL

  • Ability to influence technology strategy to enable delivery of business value.

  • Ability to quickly get up to speed on business needs and assess viability of solutions while considering scale and reuse.

  • Strong problem-solving competence.
