Position Description:
Develops and maintains curated data repositories for an enterprise analytics platform. Analyzes complex datasets from several sources, such as demographics and investments, using SQL, Python, and front-end analytics (Tableau). Writes and updates design documentation using Confluence. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
Recommends design changes to complex, interrelated systems designed to meet complicated requirements, improve performance, or reduce costs of ownership.
Designs new systems based on requirements gathered during the requirements analysis phase.
Leads other analysts in the documentation of large and complex projects.
Monitors the quality and progress of documents created by other systems analysts.
Documents formal specifications describing solutions to meet requirements.
Serves as an industry Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Analyzes data held within transactional, warehouse, and data lakes, and communicates findings to the squad leader, data engineers, and business partners.
Analyzes information processing and computation needs.
Plans and designs computer systems using structured analysis, data modeling, and information engineering.
Develops, documents, and revises system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.
Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field five (5) years of experience as a Principal IT Data Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing data analytics and data management in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal IT Data Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing data analytics and data management in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing data architecture and data models in a financial services environment; developing and implementing technology applications to identify data anomalies and patterns; and implementing data virtualization techniques to stream data from data sources and vendors using data engineering and visualization tools (Tableau and Oracle BI).
DE analyzing complex datasets from multiple sources -- demographics and investments -- and merging complex datasets by writing complex SQL and PL/SQL queries in DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL server using Toad, DB visualizer, or Snowflake.
DE performing Extract Transform Load (ETL), Enterprise Data Lake (EDL), Extract Load Transform (ELT), and SQL tuning and optimization with on-prem, cloud technologies (AWS- S3 and EC2), and cloud databases; and integrating cross functional business units' data within a microservice-based application using Splunk and Kafka (leveraging event based, reactive, and stateless architecture) in a financial services environment.
DE writing stored procedures, jobs automation, UNIX, and LINUX shell scripts to perform data analytics on OLTP, OLAP data warehouses, and Data Lakes; and generating KPIs and enhanced digital experiences using Tableau and Oracle BI tools.
