Position Description:

Creates and delivers data lake solutions and data warehouses using Snowflake, PowerDesigner, Oracle Designer, and Erwin. Writes SQL to query data. Supports strategic decisions and builds solutions to help scale business. Builds and assists in the creation of scalable, flexible, and well detailed data models to improve product offerings and the speed of time to market. Collaborates with other leaders to establish enterprise standards according to Agile methodologies. Delivers practical and resilient data models and database designs that meet business needs, while adhering to enterprise and industry standard methodologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions

  • Updates software or enhances existing software capabilities.

  • Uses data modeling technologies to build Data Models for multiple key initiatives.

  • Crafts conformed dimensions that can be used across business units.

  • Delivers practical and resilient data models and database designs that meet business needs while adhering to enterprise and industry standard methodologies.

  • Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities.

  • Coordinates software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

  • Guides junior data modelers primarily operating within autonomous squads across product areas.

  • Works individually or coordinates database development as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Modeler (or closely related occupation) performing data modeling for multi-Cloud data transformation projects, using PowerDesigner and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Native Cloud capabilities in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Modeler (or closely related occupation) performing data modeling for multi-Cloud data transformation projects, using PowerDesigner and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Native Cloud capabilities in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) crafting robust data models to design efficient and scalable databases using Power Designer; optimizing the performance and scalability of database designs using advanced indexing techniques -- clustered indexing, function-based indexing, composite indexing, and In-Memory Indexing; and facilitating data usability, and internal and business reporting conducted within Business Intelligence (BI) tools (PowerBI and Tableau), by extending the modelling for consumption layer.

  • DE performing data modeling and maintaining storage on two or more Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Snowflake); and designing scalable and distributed data architectures in Cloud environments using Cloud-native technologies (Amazon S3, AWS Aurora, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or Big Query).

  • DE modeling and implementing data structures in NoSQL databases (Aerospike, Cockroach DB, Elasticsearch, or Yuga byte), using NoSQL query languages (Aerospike Query Language, Aerospike Expression, or PostgreSQL); and optimizing NoSQL databases for high-performance and handling unstructured or semi-structured data, using data sharing techniques (Hashing and multi-cluster data distribution).

  • DE building scalable and flexible data warehouses (according to Ralph Kimball or Data Vault methodologies and models) to capture and store historical data while maintaining traceability and auditability, using Hub-Spoke Architecture, Change Data Capture, and Distributed Parallel ELT.
