Vice President, Government Relations and Public Affairs - Westlake, TX

- College degree required
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in government relations or external/public affairs preferred
The Purpose of Your Role
The VP, Government Relations and Public Affairs is based in Westlake, TX and is responsible for representing Fidelity’s presence in Texas to advance the company's business interests and elevate its corporate profile. This role is a primary 'face of Fidelity' in the region and requires active engagement in community events and activities, such as chambers of commerce, trade groups, public policy task forces and committees, and nonprofit organizations. Government relations responsibilities include partnering with team members on federal government relations initiatives and managing all aspects of local and state legislative affairs in North Texas and in Austin, including issue tracking, advocacy on key issues and relationship management with elected officials and key regulators.

- You have a well-developed sense of political acumen and a demonstrated ability to influence and engage through written and verbal communications
- You have a proven familiarity with the North Texas community
The Expertise You Bring
Government Relations
- Developing and implementing relationship strategies with local, state and federal officials to educate them about Fidelity and advance Fidelity’s point of view on key issues
- Monitoring all legislative and regulatory trends, potential legislation and policy activity in Austin, the North Texas region, and in additional assigned states to determine potential impact on Fidelity.
- Developing subject matter expertise in key assigned policy issues and leading advocacy efforts on those issues for the entire regional public affairs team to coordinate engagement across all states
- Working with Fidelity’s federal government relations and public policy teams to assess policy threats/opportunities and develop strong relationships with the regional federal delegation and staff. Formulate and execute advocacy plans to address these issues.
- Advocating for policy priorities with both internal and external audiences and lobbying elected officials on legislation of interest to Fidelity
Regional Public Affairs
- Actively representing Fidelity in the region’s business, nonprofit and government communities
- Attending events and engaging in community work that aligns with Fidelity’s regional goals
- Leveraging engagement with regional and state chambers of commerce, trade associations, and nonprofit partners to advance the interests of Fidelity at a state/regional level
- Developing and implementing strategies to maintain and enhance Fidelity's corporate and community profile in the region and state
- Identifying, implementing, managing and fulfilling sponsorship opportunities that advance Fidelity’s regional goals
- Partnering with Fidelity Corporate Affairs/ Regional Communications to obtain favorable news coverage that supports corporate and regional priorities
Internal Business Value
- Supporting the Westlake Regional Leadership Team on regional priorities and opportunities.
- Developing expertise on Fidelity's Texas business operations and its specific challenges/opportunities, and creating dynamic strategies to address and manage those needs
- Working with business development contacts (Regional Leadership Office Director, Investor Center Market Leaders, Relationship Managers/Managing Directors) to understand business goals and partnering to develop integrated support strategies; assisting with introductions and relationship development as permitted by Compliance.

The Regional Public Affairs team oversees Fidelity's interactions with federal, state and local governments in the communities where we live and work. Because many of Fidelity's products, services, and operations were created by law, or are subject to regulation, we play a significant role in promoting and protecting Fidelity's values, business, and brand.
