Position Description:
Modernizes Data Architecture techniques and Cloud Data technologies. Works on Relational, NoSQL, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Streaming Technologies, Master Data Management, Distributed Databases, Snowflake, Reporting, and Analytics. Provides hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions. Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with application development teams to cultivate innovation, drive standardization, and deliver new data solutions to build next generation data ecosystems.
- Provides hands-on solutions for pattern reference implementations and squad support needs.
- Drives the technology data strategy for the platforms that provides access to Open Architecture for quotes and provides workflow improvement for clients.
- Designs and develops enterprise data solutions in multiple technology platforms, frameworks, data engineering, analytics and languages.
- Architects, designs and builds highly scalable and resilient data solutions.
- Architects modern data integration frameworks, highly scalable distributed systems using open source and emerging data architecture designs and patterns.
- Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Architect (or closely related occupation) performing data architecture and application design in a financial services environment, using Cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Glue, S3, Lambda, and EKS).
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Architect (or closely related occupation) performing data architecture and application design in a financial services environment, using Cloud technologies (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Glue, S3, Lambda, and EKS).
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) migrating databases in a financial services environment to assess and plan, identify redundancies, complementarities, design artifacts, diagrams and locating potential integration points, using data modeling and architecture tools (Visio and SAP PowerDesigner).
- DE designing and building data warehouses and performing Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) development, using data warehousing ETL/Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) tools (Informatica and Snaplogic), schedulers (Control M) and messaging/streaming technologies (Kafka and Managed File Transfer (MFT)); and maintaining data quality, using Collibra and Alation.
- DE architecting, building, and deploying data pipelines on AWS Cloud, using AWS services (IAM, Glue, S3, Lambda, and EKS), Jenkins, Python, Airflow, and Dynamo DB.
- DE designing and building scalable and resilient software solutions, prototyping, and building infrastructure frameworks according to DevOps practices, using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools -- Jenkins and GitHub; and performing issue tracking following Agile methodologies using Jira.
