IT Data Analyst

The Data Analyst will be required to work across different groups within the Market Data organization to analyze, acquire, supply and verify informational data used by Market Data’s business partners across the Fidelity enterprise. The role will involve the validation of key data points being leveraged critical downstream Fidelity applications. The role will also involve managing and troubleshooting data inquiries from product and shared services teams across Market Data’s consuming applications. In addition, they will drive the collection of both functional and data requirements from Business Partners and translate them into robust Market Data solutions.
The Market Data organization is charged with providing robust real-time and historical data technology solutions for market quoting, charting, and news access throughout the entire Fidelity enterprise. Our services are essential to many of our core businesses facilitating the data demands of retail customers. Responsibilities
Drive new Market Data implementations within real-time/end of day pricing, history and analytics, reference data, as well as news and research offerings.
Work closely with the Market Data Development team to socialize data behaviors, assist in all data mapping, and documentation.
Interpret and gather Business Partner requirements, identify data source(s), and write data proposals to satisfy the Business Partner need.
Work with Market Data vendors to ensure the highest level of data quality and on-board new content to meet the growing needs of our Business Partners.
Perform data testing on proposed Market Data solutions.
Maintain data lineage and data behaviors within Market Data’s metadata solution.
Assist Data Desk and Operations team with data analysis and clients use case scenarios as required.
Assist with documenting content behavior and data models within the equities, ETFs, crypto currency, mutual fund, and derivatives marketplaces.
Maintain the documentation and data lineage of all supported Market Data content.
Work closely with the Market Data Reliability Engineering team with mitigating any reported client incidents as well as data inquiries.
Support Market Data’s Pricing and History and Analytics Product offerings via daily monitoring of data quality reports.
Assist with the review of global exchange and vendor notifications and identify potential value-add enhancements and/or potential risks to the Market Data process.
Education and Experience
BS/BA in business or technology/data analytic discipline.
3+ years of supporting business applications with multiple asset classes and data types either inside or outside of Fidelity is required.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
The ability to initiate, coordinate, speak to and manage tasks during high impacting incident calls and lead the team to restore normal service operation as quickly as possible to minimize the adverse effect on business operations.
Skills and Knowledge
Superior skills in MS Office suite including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio and Access
SQL and Unix skills is strongly preferred. Shell scripting or Python scripting is highly desired. Familiarity with Agile development environments.
Familiarity with AWS Cloud concepts is a plus.
Strong attention to detail; ability to detect errors and take corrective action.
Knowledge of investment management information and market data administration preferred.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; ability to interface with customer organizations.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Superior skill, ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately. Ability to effectively respond to dynamically changing work environment.
