Director, Full Stack Engineering – Digital Technology
The Role
As a member of the technical leadership team, you will work with teams that compose and develop solutions. Your role includes championing innovation, driving standardization, and delivering modern technology patterns across the stack for our customers.
This is a fast-paced technology group that adopts new technologies with focus on building innovative and cloud-native experiences, capabilities, and platforms in support of millions of customers who are seeking products that provide guaranteed income and/or protection. This role operates at the intersection of engineering, product, and design – driving technical strategy, elevating engineering standards, and ensuring seamless, performant and personalized user experiences.
Key Accountabilities
Provide day to day leadership for a delivery team comprised of engineering and product resources, and indirect leadership of supporting teams, i.e. architecture, quality and program management.
Engage team members, in an agile structure, to deliver solutions that drive efficiency and effectiveness against defined product objectives and the team mission while continuously improving, innovating, experimenting, learning and celebrating success.
Committed to developing others and yourself to ensure the latest thinking and knowledge is integrated into the culture of the team including talent lifecycle including performance management.
Trusted advisor for functional capabilities of the platform or system. Align resources to the highest priorities in partnership with the Platform Leader and ensure effective production support coverage for the platform(s)
Accountable for alignment to functional strategy, including technology standards, policies & improving reuse, within the enterprise ecosystem & across the function.
Responsible for proactive research, analysis and recommendation of new & existing feature opportunities that align to the Platform Group strategies.
Participate and actively contribute to assessing platform choices for the future. Ensure overall operational health of the platform/system.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Deep understanding of life insurance digital ecosystems, including underwriting, compliance, and customer facing experiences design across web and mobile channels.
10+ years of relevant employment experience leading teams and developing products and solutions with technology.
Knowledge of Insurance industry would be preferred and an added plus
Strong product approach and experience leading and empowering a product team to deliver results.
Excellent planning, project management, consulting, leadership, and talent management skills.
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively connect with both business and technical teams.
Jira and Jira Align experience preferred.
Experience in financial services, cloud/AWS, APIs and driving digital experiences a plus.
Partnerships - develop positive relationships and champion a collaborative team environment.
Leadership – demonstrated expertise of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority with a track record of building engaged and empowered teams.
Management – able to delegate, mentor and deliver feedback to Business Analysts and/or Associate Product Owners that may report directly to you. Prioritize management responsibilities and support that cultivates associate growth and career development.
