The Role

As an IT Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in optimizing the delivery of high value products and services to our customers. You will work directly on dedicated delivery teams to implement and improve daily operational practices, foster collaboration, drive continuous improvement, leverage meaningful data for decision-making, lead resolution of issues, and manage dependency logistics, among other aspects of this multi-purpose role.

Key responsibilities include

  • Implement and maintain project frameworks and practices within assigned teams.

  • Facilitate team events, coordinate logistics, and ensure their effectiveness.

  • Coach team members on quality practices.

  • Identify and help remove impediments to team progress.

  • Promote transparency and effective communication within the team and with stakeholders.

  • Support backlog management and refinement.

  • Drive release planning and management.

  • Conduct capacity planning and assess goal fulfillment.

  • Facilitate planning with dependent partners.

  • Utilize data and metrics to drive process improvements.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement to position delivery teams to realize business outcomes.

This opportunity will operate within the Fidelity Institutional Capital Markets area. An exciting area that continually blends an array of technical solutioning and optimal delivery practices with our thought-leadership content to drive the best results to our partners. The IT Project Manager who joins our team will have an opportunity to take lead on two delivery teams in our Prime product area. Your leadership skills will also be put on display as we work to migrate maturing increments within our release management environment and champion production stability with defined support measures.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 2-5 years of experience in a dedicated IT Project Manager role.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is not required, but a plus.

  • Strong understanding of iterative development principles, hybrid methods of working, SDLC, and relative practices.

  • Experience with project management & delivery concepts along with application.

  • Experience with risk mitigation techniques and managing quality control.

  • Experience with project management tools (e.g. Jira, MS Office Suite, Confluence).

  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of software development processes.

  • Ability to influence without authority.

  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Familiarity with data analysis, delivery metrics, and reporting.

  • Process and Methodology Expertise: ability to implement work management structures and optimize team delivery processes.

  • Dependency Management: identifying, tracking, managing work sequencing, and resolving dependencies.

  • Product Acumen: Proficiency ensuring work is delivering measurable customer value and is effectively prioritized based on size, impact, and alignment to goals.

  • Release Management: Familiarity with release process and change management.

  • Data and Tools: Diligent in ensuring high data quality is maintained so that decisions and outcomes are transparent and reliable.

  • Team Dynamics: Proficient embracing a positive leadership stance and building high levels of trust and engagement on teams.

The Team

Our IT Project Managers engage with all team members, including the Engineering and Product Managers, to reinforce delivery principles into the daily work. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and overall leadership behaviors, we evolve and sustain an innovative culture that emphasizes efficiency, quality, speed to market to achieve prioritized business outcomes.
