Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Biology, Meteorology, related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in designing and implementing environmental management systems in the tech sector
  • 5 years of experience in program management
  • Experience in environmental regulations, environmental incident management, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience managing vendors and contractors
    • Experience with project management tools
    • Experience and/or knowledge of data centers operations, development, and construction
    • Outstanding collaboration with cross-functional teams, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills

    Google Data Centers (GDC) makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures on the planet. The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program enables compliance and safety excellence in design, construction, commissioning, deployment, and operations of Google owned and third-party data centers at scale.

    As a member of the Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management (CSRM) Environmental team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an environmental management systems framework across our GDC teams. In this role, you will play a critical part in working collaboratively with a cross-functional team to identify programmatic gaps, develop and execute environmental campaigns, programs, and procedures to protect Google’s interests. You will also provide program leadership and oversight to new and critical environmental initiatives to continue to create and iterate our EHS program.

    For United States applicants: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$208,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.     Responsibilities

    • Establish, implement, and maintain a conforming environmental management system, including environmental procedures and associated knowledge database encompassing all operating models of Google data centers.
    • Identify and evaluate data center environmental risks for end-to-end business impact. Design/lead programs to mitigate those risks.
    • Assess potential environmental liability risks with a focus on air emissions, soil and groundwater remediation, hazardous waste, water and wastewater, noise, permitting and compliance, incident management, cultural and archaeological resources, environmental, and human health risk assessment.
    • Drive continuous improvement, develop environmental key performance indicators, and track regional/global milestones and deliverables for our environmental program to ensure alignment with google data centers global strategy.
    • Investigate and analyze environmental incident reports and recommend global measures/programs to prevent recurrence. Establish internal communication channels through periodic environmental newsletters and campaigns.
