Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Quantitative discipline.
  • Experience with Search Engine Optimization (SEO), website development, or working with a site owner.
  • Experience with one or more of the following languages: SQL, HTML, JavaScript, Python, and/or C++.
  • Experience with machine learning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

About the job

As an Engineering Analyst, you will protect Google Search users and work on improving the search experience. You will identify and prevent harmful behaviors, such as spam, scams and low quality content, conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to discover novel abuse trends and poor user experiences. You will improve Google Search Essentials to ensure that search results are useful, suggesting scalable solutions and working with engineers to develop and launch ranking changes. You will lead cross-functional efforts to improve the overall search experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $114,000-$167,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Analyze search trends, identify inorganic activity and poor user experiences, and develop solutions.
  • Design methodologies and metrics to analyze open-ended questions, conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of large data sets to detect patterns and quantify problems.
  • Work with engineers and analysts to develop machine learning based solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams (e.g., Crawling, Indexing, Image Search, Trust).
  • Provide data-driven insights and present strategy recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders.
