You will be responsible for maintaining workpapers and providing compliance support to the offshore team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and with a cross-functional team.
You will
Accurate and timely preparation and filing of selected legal entity statutory Life and Health (LAH) financial documents and supplemental filings.
Perform detailed analytical review to identify period-to-period variances in statement line items and the resulting relationship to other components in the statutory financial statements (using Oracle Narrative). Immediately alert management of any misrepresentation or fraudulent reporting of financial information.
Assist with the development and maintenance of complex financial reporting and analytical tools via Oracle LAH interface, SmartView, Narrative and Sovos Wings financial statement application.
Support applicable audited financials and notes for applicable legal entity
Keep up to date on NAIC/regulatory accounting/reporting changes affecting The Guardian subsidiaries e.g., NAIC working groups and various regulatory authorities.
Develop a solid understanding of statutory accounting and reporting.
Assist Supervisor and Manager with workflow review and projects as needed
Find opportunities for efficiency, successfully lead, and execute desired results.
Provide support to offshore compliance team
You have
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance
3 - 5 years of proven ability with insurance statutory and financial reporting
Proficient with Microsoft Office e.g., macros, formulas, pivots, lookups etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong focus on detail.
Ability to think critically, analyze, prioritize, and take initiative.
Proven record working under pressure within time constraints and a high workload volume at critical peak times to deliver timely results.
Use existing technology to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy.
Evaluate processes and controls, develop recommendations to enhance, adapt to changing business priorities and environments.
Partner effectively with associates across Businesses and Corporate Finance
Location /Travel
Hybrid role: Preferred location - working in our Hudson Yards, NYC office - 2 days a week, WFH –3 days a week
Salary Range
$77,800.00 - $127,810.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
