Senior Accountant Financial Reporting Analyst

This position is responsible for financial reporting, including developing and maintaining a strong control environment, interfacing with the auditors, and facilitating in the preparation of financial statements. This position is responsible for management reporting, including the President’s Report, Flash Report and Surplus Note/FA Note Offering Memorandums. This position will also involve participation in and leadership of several financial control projects and initiatives.

You will

  • Assist in preparation of financial reports, including Statutory audited financial statements and footnotes, as well as financial statements for quarterly President’s Report, monthly Flash Report, Dashboard reporting, rating agencies, and annual report.

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly President’s Report including preparation, collection of information from Guardian Profit Centers, resolution of issues, review with Management and distribution.

  • Manage multiple SharePoint sites for Management Reporting collaboration and distribution of reports.

  • Assist in the preparation of the Monthly Flash Report including preparation, maintenance, and distribution.

  • Assist in various other activities to support the department during close processes, including, as necessary, assisting the consolidation unit, management reporting, and statutory reporting.

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries for 401K and Pension plans and maintain pension schedules based on benefit plan financial results provided by the third-party actuary.

  • Assist in coordination of the FA and Surplus Notes. Providing documentation and Audit support.

  • Assist in preparing Audited calendars.

  • Assist with building and maintaining Oracle Fusion Analytics Warehouse (“FAW”) Dashboard and existing reports created for Senior Management including testing, validation and updating data in new structure.

  • Assist in maintaining Oracle Reporting Catalog and address oracle reporting issues. Including running OTBI, BI, and FRS reports to answer various accounting transaction questions.

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and ad-hoc senior management presentations. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the numbers.

You have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Master’s preferred.

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in the life insurance industry and/or Big “4” auditing experience of life insurance companies

  • Solid foundation in GAAP/STAT accounting principles.

  • Strong project management skills demonstrated through experience in process design, documentation, and controls assessment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and an aptitude for detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to use excellent judgment while working with multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to think critically, analyze, prioritize, take initiative, problem-solve.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP & EPM

  • Working knowledge of SharePoint

Location /Travel

Hybrid role: Hudson Yards, NYC office – in office, 2 days a week, WFH –3 days a week

Salary Range

$77,800.00 - $127,810.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
