Do you want to be part of a collaborative fast-paced Data Strategy & Security team as a Data Strategy & Security Lead?
This newly created role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team of attorneys, compliance, and information security professionals in the exponentially growing fields of data strategy, security, and privacy. The candidate will be instrumental in the enhancement and ongoing improvement of Guardian’s record management and data governance programs as well as our compliance with cybersecurity regulations and laws. Internally, this position will interact with all departments and all management levels within the Guardian enterprise and will acquire insight into the operations of one of the country’s largest life insurers.
You will
Collaborate with a team of attorneys, compliance, and InfoSec professionals to establish and maintain a company-wide data governance program, which includes assisting with data classification and the implementation of record retention and purging efforts across the enterprise.
Help drive forward enhancements targeted at complying with applicable data security laws and regulations.
Conduct record management assessments of applications, programs, systems, products, and services.
Ensure appropriate data retention policies are being applied so that data is properly disposed.
Identify strategic priorities, objectives, and milestones, including staying current with emerging legislation, regulations, and law.
Lead the implementation of tools to automate efficient and scalable data retention and cybersecurity processes.
Support the work of the Data Strategy & Security Team in the Law Department, which may include driving forward privacy, data, cybersecurity, AI and IP initiatives and tasks.
You have
A bachelor’s degree in political science, Business or a related field or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of proven experience as analyst, legal assistant with demonstrated experience in data governance and/or records management preferred.
Must be organized, results-driven and proactive.
Insurance or financial services experience is a plus.

Location /Travel
Hybrid role: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH, Hudson Yards, NYC
Travel to Guardian offices as requested by the People Leader
Salary Range
$101,180.00 - $166,220.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
