Job Description

Video content is a core part of John Hancock’s marketing strategy. Our videos both entertain customers and inform them about our wide product range and company mission. All of this is possible thanks to our behind-the-scenes video staff. We’re looking for a skilled video editor to work in both short and long formats, shooting footage and editing it based on project specifications. After showing a rough draft to stakeholders, they’ll be responsible for implementing project notes. The finished product will represent the best of the company and the video editor’s skill.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit short- and long-form videos for John Hancock’s website and social media accounts
  • Take charge of video ideation and creation, partnering with writers and designers
  • Ensure videos meet the marketing team’s specifications and brand guidelines
  • Implement creative notes from stakeholders
  • Offer customers peerless digital experiences
  • Evaluate projects for brand authenticity

Required Skills:

  • Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Media Encoder
  • Deep understanding of various video formats for the web and social media channels including resolution and aspect ratio, frame rate, codecs and compression, subtitling, thumbnails, and file delivery methods
  • Expertise in video and audio capture, DSLR- and ENG- camera technologies, portrait and dramatic lighting,
  • Ability to work with non-actors to deliver informational content to camera or within interview-style shoots
  • Familiarity with video editing software like Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro
  • Capacity to communicate effectively
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to pick out attention-grabbing shots
  • Excellent storytelling skills
  • Knowledge of basic editing principles
  • Stay on top of industry + design trends, insights and desire to measure success to provide well-informed recommendations to team members
  • Assist with studio management including overseeing technology, coordinating with vendors, and procuring equipment
  • Manage well-organized projects including proper folder structures, asset management and backups

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience creating high-quality, compelling videos and audio content in an agency environment
  • Experience with developing concepts for advertising campaigns
  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to visual arts, media production, film or film studies

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,475.00 USD - $114,125.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
