The Distribution Strategy Consultant will focus on delivering research projects that influence executive decision-making, share synthesized perspective on the competitive landscape and provide insights that help shape third-party distribution and new markets strategic trajectory.
Third-Party Distribution and New Markets includes the company’s third-party, worksite, direct-to-consumer and new markets efforts, focused on innovative ways to reach more people with the financial solutions they need. The team has an unrelenting focus on delivering long-term financial security and value to our policyowners, and takes a collaborative, inclusive approach to executing our strategy.
As pace of change continues to accelerate externally and internally, we have greater needs to monitor and understand the external environment, make deeper use of data/analytics and generate swift insights to inform decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Independently lead end-to-end delivery of projects to answer strategic business questions and develop solutions to complex business problems that cross disciplines and will advance business unit or company goals.
Synthesize complex information to create compelling and influential narratives with clear takeaways and recommendations.
Generate impact as a trusted advisor by maintaining the ability to see the big picture in inherently complex and dynamic situations.
Positively contribute to the organization’s ambitious goals and help drive the success of MassMutual.
Role model behaviors (e.g., self-driven, strong interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity, highest level of professionalism, inclusive behaviors, orientation towards client and team instead of self).
The Minimum Qualifications
5+ years competitive intelligence and/or corporate strategy experience
4+ years industry experience with annuity, life and/or DI products
2+ years’ experience with third party distribution channels
2+ years’ experience with presentation platforms, specifically PowerPoint
2+ years’ experience experience working with various stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure timely completion research and competitor deep dive analyses
The Ideal Qualifications
2+ years' experience in data analysis, management consulting or strategy with a strong track record of successful delivery
Ability to create simple, powerful, and data-driven presentations and effectively use storytelling to influence senior leaders and help their decision-making
Prior experience in Financial Services, including familiarity with distribution datasets
Proven ability to distill down high-quality analysis of large sets of qualitative and quantitative data into simple and actionable key insights tailored to various audiences
Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations.
Hypothesis driven problem-solving ability, including skillful translation of business questions into data analytics projects
