THE ROLE
The Corporate Finance Lead Analyst works independently on activities relating to accounting and financial reporting and related analytics for assigned business units as well as special projects. Overseeing the maintenance of books and records for strategic business unit; guides preparation of financial forecasts and budget reports and performs ad-hoc analysis.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Performs the monthly financial close for managerial business unit(s) and legal entities inclusive of reconciliations, data maintenance and financial proofs. Prepares monthly financial and managerial reports.
- Performs accounting functions and financial analysis functions related to assigned strategic business unit(s) and related legal entities and to assist in decisions regarding products, operations, and other ad-hoc requests.
- Contributes to accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal controls (includes Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) and standard operating procedures.
- Works independently and with others in Corporate Finance to improve accounting procedures and processes.
- Reviews and monitors progress on key functions (for example, client billing and collections, financial intermediary payments, or other similar functions).
- Communicates, presents and interfaces with Corporate Finance, business units, and a variety of external parties relating to financial reports and analysis.
- Coordinates and prepares materials for independent audits. Monitors audit progress, respond to auditors’ questions and communicates all relevant issues to management.
- Aids in the coordination of and contributes to the analysis for the quarterly consolidated balance sheet review and quarterly Sun Life reporting.
- Assumes additional duties as requested
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5-6+ years of related experience required.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills required
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills required.
- Solid understanding of internal controls.
- Strong personal computer skills including spreadsheet and database required.
- Ability to work independently on various projects to achieve desired results.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Experience with Corporate Accounting Functions
- Financial Services experience is a plus but not a requirement
- CPA or equivalent a plus but not required
