Job Summary

Manage projects for the Health Care Services Precertification Operations and Admission Management areas using waterfall or hybrid Agile constructs. Projects may be corporate agenda, compliance, system updates or department process improvement in origin. May act as lead PM or coordinate with other PM's, depending on size and scope of projects. Position is primarily remote but may require on site at Canton office infrequently as needed by projects or for employee engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing

  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manages operational readiness of the project to ensure goals and objectives are met within the established time and budget guidelines.

    • Partner with the CPMO to understand end-to-end business impact of the solution/decisions from a health care services perspective.

    • Lead cross-functional team members and ensure leadership is engaged and up to date on program activities.

    • Lead team members to parse and synthesize operation readiness issues of above average complexity, including cost/benefit analysis and resource estimating as applicable.

    • Create the Clinical Services Readiness Plan and ensure the teams are prepared for go-live.

    • Regularly review operational readiness status of project and modify schedule as necessary.

    • Oversee and facilitate project team meetings and prepares status documents periodically throughout the project.

    • Facilitate planning sessions.

    • Resolve roadblocks to project progress.

    • Influence key stakeholders when applicable. Ensure Shared Serves are engaged at the right level and appropriate times.

    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of major departmental projects and ongoing corporate initiatives as assigned.

    • Manage the timely and accurate implementation of new programs and supporting ongoing programs for the business, as applicable. Will require gathering and synthesizing data to submit to IT and vendors related to ongoing programs, problem solving issues or implementing process improvements.

    • Lead or participate on multi-functional implementation and service teams. Represent business as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in cross-functional meetings and projects. Proactively manage tasks with cross functional interfaces. This includes collaborating with multiple areas within the organization and with vendors and outside agencies as needed to ensure timely processes and workflows.

    • Perform analysis and data validation in support of the project and effectively interpret and communicate results.

    • Perform other responsibilities as required, including responding to internal and external audit requests, providing cross-training to team members, working with management to ensure there are effective ongoing operational and regulatory business processes, and identifying and implementing process improvements and working on other projects/initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications – what you need to perform the job

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in business or healthcare preferred.

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of business experience, which includes 3-5 years of project management experience leading significant departmental level and cross-functional projects.

  • Requires experience in healthcare and/or operations, and the ability to use knowledge of the company to ensure proper resolution of project progress roadblocks.

  • Requires fundamental knowledge of project management concepts and the ability to apply these concepts to project deliverables. Project management certification is a plus.

Skill requirements :

Project Manager II is expected to be self-motivated & detail-oriented with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and have the flexibility to adapt to changing processes and timelines. Requires the ability to perform in dynamic situations, manage multiple complex responsibilities, and be effective working autonomously to meet multiple deadlines.

Requires the ability to prioritize competing issues and manage deliverables and to effectively communicate across workgroups. Requires strong process management, project management, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Project Manager II should possess a basic level of competency with applying project management techniques, tools and methods for documentation including gathering business/technical requirements, communication planning and schedule development.

Requires the ability to analyze and resolve operational issues and the ability to exercise timely & sound judgement in order to escalate issues to appropriate team members or management for resolution. Requires the ability to interpret new and existing regulations and business ideas and understand the finance implication to processes and applications.

Requires strong analytical and technical skills with advanced/high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Word. Proficiency in project management software tools (e.g. Smartsheet, JIRA, and Kanban) and/or analytical query/report writing tools (e.g. Cognos) is a plus.

Interpersonal skills:

Requires a high level of organizational skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to facilitate planning and review sessions and high-level presentation skills. Requires ability to partner and communicate with all departments and organization levels across Tufts Health Plan as well as external customers, vendors, auditors, and government agencies.

The Project Manager II is expected to successfully manage the environment which includes flexibility, relationship building, professional accountability and the ability to communicate at all levels required to support the various reporting relationships in a professional manner.

Must be able to excel in a fast-paced business environment and handle multiple priorities. Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week as the job may require, including evenings and weekends
