Job Summary
The Director of Data Governance champions the optimization of value from Point32Health’s extensive data assets, extended through the complex healthcare industry data ecosystem in which the organization operates. This role is accountable for the activation of an enterprise-scale data governance program needed to instill confidence in the proactive management of Point32Health data assets and cultivate a culture of continuous data quality improvement needed to empower the organization’s data management aspirations.The data governance program includes implementation of the data governance operating model and maturation of data literacy and training programs, metadata management and data quality solutions, and collaboration with business constituents in the fulfillment of data quality operational functions needed to achieve enterprise-wide data management objectives. This individual must possess broad and deep business knowledge to ensure the business is adequately and appropriately supported by the enterprise data governance program and realize the value of its data quality services and related offerings.
The Director of Data Governance partners with business executive leadership, middle management, and frontline staff to achieve their data governance aspirations. This role requires management of a variety of staff including management leads, data governance professionals, business and data analysts, subject matter experts, and operational staff. In this capacity, the Director of Data Governance oversees team performance management and provides direction to staff on their respective data governance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities/Duties – what you will be doing
- Function as an evangelist of DM/DaaS-led data governance and quality services and offerings, and lead activities focused on new and innovative ways of realizing tangible business value from its data governance operating model
- Collaborate with executive leadership to articulate Point32Health’s strategic data governance priorities and objectives, and translate them into initiatives, roadmaps and plans needed to continuously realize business value
- Lead the rollout of a robust and comprehensive data governance model and corresponding data stewardship capabilities in partnership with organizational leaders, data stewards, custodians, and stakeholders
- Establish stakeholder confidence that enterprise data repositories are appropriately governed, accurate, well-managed, and fit for enterprise purposes
- Define and deliver a data quality operating model that proactively measures, monitors, and establishes confidence in Point32Health data assets, including the establishment of a data quality intake process to receive, investigate and facilitate issue resolution through the data governance operating model and operational and programmatic controls
- Establish and lead a consultative capability to partner with business stakeholders on the resolution of data quality issues, conceive of practical approaches to address challenges, and partner with DM/DaaS design and delivery teams to bring envisioned solutions to fruition
- Mature the metadata management data catalog solution and its supporting operating model needed to enable business and technical stakeholders in their identification and appropriate usage of enterprise data assets
- Lead efforts to cultivate data literacy throughout the Point32Health workforce by developing and delivering training programs, leveraging metadata, data lineage and data definition documentation in support of this initiative
- Contribute to the delivery of programmatic and operational controls for master data, reference data and transactional datasets within the data warehousing infrastructure and other enterprise data repositories
- Establish and provide direction to the newly created Data Governance team, organize its activities, and align its offerings with adjacent functions, Point32Health vendors and delivery partners
- Establish high confidence in the approach, staffing model, timelines, and capabilities of the Data Governance team, and lead efforts to improve upon these consistent with evolving organizational expectations and business needs
Qualifications – what you need to perform the job
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or Public Administration, or related field
EXPERIENCE (minimum years required):
- 10-15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in information technology, must include large ($MM) program management
- Previous experience in a data governance leadership capacity
- Data quality measurement, master data management, data as a service and data warehousing solutions experience
- Ability to successfully manage teams, people, and projects on a cross-functional cross organizational-basis
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate complex, technical and data management concepts clearly for a disparate and varied user community
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills required.
- Ability to assess business, operational and technical impacts of data management, data governance and data quality issues, and corresponding solutions
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (include special requirements, e.g., lifting, travel):
- Must be able to work under normal office conditions and work from home as required.
- Work may require simultaneous use of a telephone/headset and PC/keyboard and sitting for extended durations.
- May be required to work additional hours beyond standard work schedule.

Salary Range
184,447-238,697Compensation & Total Rewards Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position represents a broad range of salaries for this role and similar roles across the organization. The actual salary for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope and complexity of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; equity with internal colleagues; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive total rewards program, colleagues are also eligible for variable pay. Eligibility for any bonus, commission, benefits, or any other form of compensation and benefits remains in the Company's sole discretion and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
