Utilization Review Customer Service Rep

We are hiring a Customer Service Representative to handle utilization review calls from injured workers. This role requires strong communication skills and a customer‑focused approach to ensure callers receive accurate information and support.

Schedule
We are currently hiring for the following full‑time shifts, Monday through Friday:

  • 11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. CST, or
  • 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. EST

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To assist in evaluating the medical necessity, appropriateness and efficiency of the health care services and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with utilization management quality assurance initiatives through participation in on-line log and/or case staffing with supervisor.
  • Position is to answer phones for the utilization review department.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).

Qualifications

Education & Licensing

High school diploma or GED required. Experience One (1) year of experience with workers compensation legal and regulatory requirements and quality/managed care concepts or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of workers compensation claims procedures and state legal and regulatory requirements
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently with little supervision
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $17.00-18.00/hr. A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
