Media Strategist & Buyer (Freelance / Part-Time)

Stirling is a bold, brand-led agency that thrives at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and performance. As we expand our integrated media capabilities, we’re looking for a Media Strategist & Buyer to join our team on a part-time, freelance basis.
This role is designed for a seasoned media professional who understands how to shape and activate multi-channel campaigns—especially lower-funnel digital—and can operate as both a planner and executor. You’ll lead media buys for our clients, collaborate with our strategy and creative teams, and manage relationships with outside partners and vendors when needed. You’ll also help shape how Stirling scales media internally over time.

What we're looking for in a Media Strategist & Buyer:- Own media planning and buying across a portfolio of accounts in B2B, non-profit, and Banking. Build and optimize campaigns across digital and traditional channels, including:
- Paid Search (Google)
- Paid Social (Meta, LinkedIn)
- Programmatic Display & Video (DSPs like Basis or Trade Desk)
- Connected TV, Out-of-Home, Print, Streaming Audio
- Partner with creative and strategy leads to develop channel-specific briefs and audience insights
- Serve as primary media lead, recommending allocations, pacing, testing strategies, and optimizations
- Interface with external partners and vendors as needed to support specialized campaign executions
- Collaborate with our internal team to package media plans and performance reporting for clients
- Jump into pitches or sales conversations to support new business opportunities
- Help Stirling shape a scalable internal media model (in-house buying, partner bench, or hybrid)
- 7+ years of experience in media strategy and buying, ideally in an agency environment
- Experience managing $5M+ in annual spend across multiple accounts
- Strong background in digital performance marketing (search, social, programmatic) with an understanding of how to layer in traditional and upper-funnel tactics
- Hands-on experience using platforms like Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and DSPs such as Basis, DV360, or The Trade Desk
- Comfortable collaborating in client-facing strategy conversations, and simplifying media insights for a variety of audiences
- Experience with both direct-to-client and white-label models
- Self-sufficient, deadline-driven, and able to handle multiple campaigns in parallel
- Reporting fluency in tools like Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Excel, and/or partner dashboards
- Bonus if you’ve worked with regional/local clients like banks, CPG brands, healthcare, or nonprofits
