About The Roll*

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) with a passion for working at the cutting edge of mobile to lead the design strategy and execution for the Toast Now App, one of our flagship mobile experiences at Toast. In this role, you’ll work with teams across Toast to craft native mobile experiences (iOS and Android) for the features of our platform that help our customers run their businesses on-the-go. You’ll also guide the evolution of AI-first mobile experiences that empower operators to make better, faster decisions across the Toast platform.

The ideal candidate is a master of design craft who thrives on solving complex design challenges. Your portfolio demonstrates an ability to create intuitive, elegant solutions that balance customer goals with business outcomes. You’re a strong advocate for customer-centered design, comfortable working in ambiguity, and skilled at bringing clarity and alignment across teams. You’ll collaborate closely with product and engineering to define strategy, set a high bar for visual and interaction design, and inspire your team to push boundaries of what’s possible.

What you'll need to thrive (Requirements)

• Passion for mobile: Demonstrated passion for designing with the latest native features for iOS and Android (e.g. Liquid Glass, Jetpack Compose etc) is a must.
• Leadership and presence: Proven ability to lead the end-to-end design of high-visibility design initiatives from concept to launch (and beyond). You’ll present work, lead crits and evangelize work across the organization.
• Systems thinking: Work across teams to create intuitive, connected user experiences that make our platform features feel seamlessly integrated on mobile.
• User-Centered Design: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
• Pro-research: Proven ability and desire to conduct and coordinate user research and usability testing throughout the product lifecycle to inform design decisions.
• Tools: Advanced proficiency in design tools like Figma and Miro, and demonstrated fluency with AI-native prototyping tools such as v0, Magic Patterns or Claude Code alongside Figma for rapid concept exploration and functional prototype generation.
• Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define design requirements and align on goals.
• Mentorship: Drive strategic design initiatives and mentor junior designers, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of innovation

What will help you stand out (Nonessential Skills/Nice to Haves)

• Restaurant Passion: First hand experience and enthusiasm for the restaurant industry and designing impactful solutions for its unique challenges is something we value highly.
• Past Experiences: Experience and passion for designing for reporting and data visualization experiences, health apps and/or native AI experiences is a plus.
• AI-first: As a design team, we’re forward thinking. We bring an AI-first mentality as we design innovative experiences for our customers. Prior experience with this transformational technology is a huge plus. This may include, for example, designing experiences for AI-powered products, including conversational interfaces, agentic workflows, and LLM-driven systems.
